Threadfall: Ongoing; intermittent and unlikely to freeze as the weather warms
Following a spectacular flight, Queen Minervath was caught by King Sulith and is now heavy with eggs. A new clutch is on the way, but will it be anything like her last or will this time bring joy and not sorrow?

Meanwhile, the Weyr continues to recover from the disastrous fallout of the first Threadfall of the Turn. Thread was successfully fought, but there were many injuries that brought the fighting strength of the Weyr down. A meeting has been called amongst the Weyr's leadership, Weyrlingmasters and Wingleaders to determine where the weaknesses lie.

In happier news, Senior Queen Kansk and Soldier-King Candesk have laid clutches, and as the eggs have hardened it has become clear that a joint hatching is to be expected.

At last, the soldier who had hatched at about the same time as Hathaesshjath, had found her person at last. Other people among the spectators moving to give them space. Sort of revealing the dragonet having sat back on her haunches to stare up at a person, who definitely also had glowing skin. Just what she'd been looking, and hoping, for. After seeing her sister.

Right now, though. They seemed to be into a bit of an argument. The dragonet certainly not being bothered in the least about getting that sort of lack of welcome!

Well, fine about that you didn't want to Impress, and had plans and all that. But my name is still Vilsaasith. I'm not going to take things back! She'd made her choice, and was sticking with it!

--

In the meantime, the black, purple, and golden soldier had managed to clamber up on someplace from where she had a bit of a view. She was not in a rush, and doing her own thing was much better anyway. So she was going to watch this place and the happenings going on.

So much more interesting than walking around in sand, and looking up at people. From here, at least she could see their faces properly.

--

On her part, the soldier with the sunset colored wings. She was walking quickly from person to person among the candidates. Then she continued towards the spectators. While she'd have liked to also check out the person currently with a dragonet at his chest. She got a snarl that said 'my moron from her six legged sister. And wasn't going to risk that one's ire more. So maybe they were not all hopeless. That still didn't mean that she wasn't going to take a peek at everyone. It was nothing wrong in checking out as many choices as she could, so she was naturally going to.

--

Still unnerved by that one candidate. The blue officer had moved away a bit, wings twitching as he looked around. Before he turned around and sort of meandered over to a person who looked very confused, and sort of pale. Unlike Bristal though, who was in another direction. When thinking about it, people were starting to be pretty sure that this other person hadn't been there a few moments before.

The officer nudged the person who may have had just showed up. Still though, seeming more curious, than seriously thinking of Impressing.

--

As wasn't at all surprising, more eggs were hatching, and finally released their inhabitants. First was a very much interestingly colored knight, nearly flopping on his nose exiting his egg. But he managed not to!

user posted image

Then a soldier that was mainly green, but looked like she also had many other colors paint-splattered all over her. Went and tumbled from her egg.

user posted image

Maybe using her siblings appearances and noisyness to sneak off while few were looking, or maybe she was just shy. A tiny scout dragonet shrugged off the remains of her egg(what she could of it at least). Then skittered off into the shadows. On her way, she might have passed Aezhesh and Hathaesshjath (with a possible searching thought towards them).

Not so long after, she might be stealthily moving among the spectators, probably small enough to escape much notice. Possibly unless one was a trained spy, and not distracted.

Name: Arraseth.
Species: dragon
Caste: soldier(mutation)
Rank: weyrling
Fertility: no
Hex Code:
Talented? Y/N Is naturally very good at making things levitate, even if it'll take her some time and practice before she can self-levitate and make herself fly well, sort of 'swimming' through the air for propulsion due to the lack of wings.
Skill? Y/N
Talent/Skill information:

Appearance: Hide is a rich burgyndy of color, reminding you of a fine wine, if you're a person who enjoys wine at least. It might have sort of a velvety sheen to it though. Over this are stripes of a rusty brown on her neck, much like a big feline's. Also most of the left side of her head is this color. More stripes can be found on her legs, and underside. The rest of her, have large, amber spots, much like those of a king cheeta. Sort of randomly, three broad stripes of azure blue run along her spine. Of build, she's more of a noodle tunnel snake in construction. Very long and streamlined. She also completely lack wings, instead she has a third pair of legs set midway on her body. Can walk on those legs just fine, though may still be clumsy while young. Has a broad head with a somewhat flat, rounded muzzle. Her carbuncle is a lump of pyrite found on her left side just behind her arm.

Personality: Forcefull, determined, believes strongly in behaving well and respectfully. Very stubborn when it comes to managing things she wants to do, which certainly helps a lot in things like learning to sort of fly even if she doesn't have wings. Not approving of forcing others to do something they really don't want to. That doesn't mean that biting can't be a reasonable solution at times, though mostly just in exceptional circumstances. Usually the threat of it is sufficent. Loves her rider, isn't blind to her riders faults, so tries to guide to the best of her ability. Clearly being the responsible one is hard, but she can make a sacrifice and forego so much play and fun, yeah... Likes being a teacher, but may not be a good one to start with, she's young and has things to learn herself first, after all. Not fond of younger children, but they're ok once they can walk and speak sensibly. WILL climb things to get away from the younger ones if crowded. Or return them to whoever look after them if just one or two, with strong words about 'control these, please!'

Notes; Impresses to an idiot who thought it was a good idea to try to make a sibling of her Impress him. Someone has to be there and bite him when he's a fool, after all.

Name: Vilsaasith
Species: dragon
Caste: soldier
Rank: weyrling
Fertility: no
Hex Code:
Talented? Y/N no
Skill? Y/N
Talent/Skill information:

Appearance: She is a whipcord lean Soldier, average size for her caste and will reach 24 ft from nose to tail at full growth. As she grows, there isn't an ounce of excess padding anywhere on her, enhancing her angular frame. She is a sharply pointed dragon with a long, slender snout that turns up abruptly at the end, and pronounced edges. Her wings are long and angled, almost bladelike, offset by an elongated neck and whip of a tail. Her hide is a gleaming blood red in base, so dark in some places it almost seems black and drying into ruddy brown along her wingsails. It is mottled in places by patches of dark blue, and her belly is touched by bright, shining peacock blue. It marches down her neck and tail in broad stripes, interspersed with black, and fading into burnt umber striations along her tail, over which the blue bands are much closer together and narrower. (Written by Caro)

Personality: Stubborn, wanting to have things her way. Loves disscussions, the more heated, the more fun. Likes to cause trouble, at least mild such. Possibly mean in some ways. Oh, you'd plans for your life? Aww, tough! Now she Impressed you, and you're a rider now, what are you going to do now, eh? Ehhh? No fun in knowing exactly what's ones life is going to be. Throwing spanners in the works are fun. A bit childish, can have a 'it's in the middle of the night, and I should've been in bed long ago' sort of humor. Likes colorful things. Playful, will be silly if she feels like it, running very fast can be great fun. Once she learns about mirrors, will want to have as many as possible.

Notes; Impresses a biolumniscent person. Couldn't care less about that the person had strong plans for life and a career, that didn't involve a dragon. The person is hers now, arguments are invalid!

Tekkith arched her neck a bit, her attention being more towards the Sands and hatchlings there now. A low, displeased rumble coming from her as one of the candidates misbehaved terribly. Though...as one of the hatchlings pounced the person, she didn't interfere..yet. Very much keeping an eye on the situation, but she would leave giving her oppinion directly to the (either way, former) candidate later.

Yes, she said, sounding a bit distracted. And I can't say, yet. You will have to ask about that later. Though, later she might also be more interested in knowing why Gethen was curious about these things. Once hers and Nemo's minds weren't much on making sure that this Hatching went smoothly, and the care for the dragonets soon after it was over.

--

"I'll remind you, you know," Csianraa said. The look on his face possibly telling that he was almost grinning again. "My memory isn't that bad. And you'll owe me a meatroll, a fresh one too."

Also, if a certain firelizard would still find it amusing later, he could always do a slide down from Irimakth when this Hatching was finished.

--

Whether she might have seen Gethen, and knew where he was. Or not. Irimakth didn't give any sign of that. When a couple of the hatchlings had been wandering among the spectators, she might have lowered her head a bit. To watch them, and maybe say a few words. Mostly she seemed to be rather at rest, eyes whirling under partly closed lids.

Though while Hatchings were fairly routine, as much as the hatching of her offspring, or people suddenly seeming to be shoved out of the shadows, could be. That lack of alertness wasn't even skin deep, as anyone knowing her would see through.

Entertained so far? If she knew where Gethen was, or not. It didn't mean that she was unable to speak to him. We have your firelizard, just to mention it. He has his usual colorful language. Even some new things. I'm asked to tell you.

Gethen

Even though Tekkith probably could not see him, Gethen made a gesture of apology. Of course, ladyship. This is a momentous occasion and I will not distract you further. He made a mental note not to pursue this line of questioning with a Queen Dragon and matriarch of a Hold. It was not a trial to turn his attention back to his actual mission, where the sands really seemed to be coming to life now.

Netheg-Mu, still disguised as a copy of Chrysothly for easier hatching-watching purposes, made a curious noise, head tilted as he watched. One Candidate (or watcher, rather) seemed to have a different idea about their future than their new bondmate, or else things were about to get messy.

Gethen tensed, shifting his weight slightly on the off chance that intervention might be needed. Admittedly none of it was his problem--there was nothing he could do even if it was. All the same, he leaned forward to watch as the black, purple and gold hatchling clambered up onto a perch, and the other making a direct line for the watchers after inspecting the presented Candidates. They didn't seem like they meant harm but with hatchlings that could change in an instant.

The other dragon voice caught him by surprise, distinct from Tekkith and far more familiar as it erupted in his mind. He looked around instinctively for the source, even though he knew exactly where she was. His expression, however, remained unchanged as he replied, Incredibly, and I understand that we have yourself and you rider to thank for the evening's entertainment? I've heard some fascinating rumours, you know. The news about Chrysothly made his eyebrow twitch. So that's where he got to. I did wonder why the one I have with me was being so well behaved. For now he made no motion to move, quite comfortable with his view here. It had nothing at all to do with any inexplicable hesitance.

--

Sitting back on Csianraa, as comfortable as though this was his favourite perch in the world, Chrysothly made no sign of moving other than to flex his talons absently against the rider's sleeve. Once he had finished devouring the meatroll, he peered up at the man with one jeweled eye, all wounded innocence. Would he ever betray Csianraa? Chrysothly struck a pose that suggested he was horribly offended, and replied to his new debt with another cheerful rude word.

While it hadn't seemed to be in that much hurry earlier, the last unhatched egg became more active all of a sudden. Shards falling away, until the shell was weak enough for the hatchling to free himself. For a little while, the hatchling, a solid-looking knight. Remained where he'd flopped onto the sand, just looking around and the whirling of his eyes slowly picking up speed.

Then he got up, moving across the Sands, and slipping out of the place completely, as fast as his legs could carry him. Saying to Tekkith that someone needed help and please let him go and do that, when the queen asked.

It was important!

Tekkith, on her part, seemed very doubtful. Then she just sighed, not demanding that the dragonet come back. But, what she did do, was to send Skua, and a couple others after the hatchling knight, to make sure he wouldn't get in trouble.

--

Having shook himself off after the almost fall. The knight that almost looked as if he had veins of opal running through his hide and scales. Got around to the serious task of checking the available candidates. And at least, he didn't think he had any interest in going looking elsewhere but among that group.

Until, finally, he found the one he was sure would be most right. Of-course the person had doubts, and uncertaincy, lots of thoughts that might have been off putting. It was just enough of a belief that the person thought that he might want to Impress anyway though, so the knight hatchling latched onto that.

And in spite of everything else, it was right absolutely. They could face things together.

I don't think I'm an illusion either, Bristal. It would be strange, as I'm sure that I exist. For a moment, the hatchling paused, but just to step closer so he was standing right by Bristal. I'm Eungeselth.

Name: Eungeselth.
Species: dragon
Caste: knight
Rank: weyrling
Fertility: n/a
Hex Code:
Talented? Y/N yes.
Skill? Y/N
Talent/Skill information: Even if it'll take him a while before he realizes, Eungeselth can 'remember' things happening in the future. This usually take the form of stray, single memories that pop into his mind occasionally. But sometimes several memories may come during the same day. For the most part, these are pretty mundane, like what he ate in two days from now, or that the weather is cloudy in five days. Much more rarely, there's more interesting memories showing up. At most, he can 'remember' things from as far into the future as a week. With time though, he can use this talent with some more control, but what memories he gets will always remain random.

Appearance: As a sort of base color, Eungeselth's hide is a dappled mess of dark shades of brown, and even darker shades of proper and more rusty red. All with a definitive sort of glow to it(even if he's not actually biolumniscent), almost as if there's the faint light of a fire somewhere inside him. All through this though, all over him, there's a web of 'cracks' filled with brighter colors. Red, yellow, blue, green, purple and maybe more, blended to produce an almost opalescent look. In a few places, this pattern of color takes over more completely though. Particurlarly noticeable on his head, and in a wider band on his right side. Breaking from the pattern of his usual colors. His left arm is completely red with a few streaks of a brassy color, and his right leg up to the knee is the same. Rather appropriatly, his carbunkle resembles a lump of boulder opal, found on the top of his head between the eyes.

Even if he may be small for a knight, Eungeselth is far from weak or slow, even if he isn't a huge, muscled beast. All of him has sort of a light, sinewy build, or appearance. Making him a rather speedy and endurant dragon. From a slender neck with sharp ridges along it, to long body, and down to his somewhat whip-like tail. His back being a bit pointy, and not just because of the ridges there. His head is elegant for something shaped like a narrow wedge, though with a somewhat broader forehead, and long head-knobs that angle upwards more sharply than many dragons. Perhaps in a bit of a contrast to the rest of him, his wings are fairly like those of a hawk's in construction when it comes to how broad and long they are.

Personality: Gentle, introspective, likes to sometimes spend most of a day just thinking about things he's seen and heard, life in general, and so on. Loves games, any sort of games, whether it's gambling, or those that take more time and thinking. Using his brains, and he's rather smart with a long memory, that's just a great thing. Also, among many other things, he uses those brains of his to figure out new ways to cheat and win, or even completely new kinds of games. Calculating, with a bit of a drive to always try to do better, he fortunately also has a inate interest in caring for people. He genuinely want to help, as long as they're not opponents in gambling or a game, of-course. There he plays to WIN. If he gets excited, it's more of a quiet sort of excited, at least outwardly. His rider will definitely be aware of that inwardly he can be near vibrating with it, in the way of emotions. Really showing it so others can notice just isn't dignified. That's between him and his rider, just them, okay? Not one to react so much to rudeness and general bad behaviour, mostly considering it a waste of time to get annoyed and so on. He's above it. However, may also know to use calm, collected responses as a weapon, as a way to make others annoyed while he's not. If someone does horrible things in some way or other though, then he'll do his very best to expose them, even if it takes years. However, he'll always enjoy gathering info and building the case, more than acctually exposing someone(even if they're bad). So it's not unusual for him to take years to acctually do it. He's very patient when it comes to that sort of thing, and good at remembering what he really wants to. However, it may also be that any of his rider's misgivings also affects more personal things, so he may having doubts about revealing many things about the Hales.

Bristal still sat on the ground, watching the chaos of the Hatching with that almost sheepish sort of "I don't belong here" expression. He felt frightened and resentful - but also, though he wasn't aware of it, a thread of wistful longing.

What am I doing here? I'm not weyrbred. I wasn't Searched. I have no right to be here. None at all. Dragons aren't for the likes of me. They're for weyrfolk. And the lucky among the Searched ones, so they say. I shouldn't be here. It's not my place. Shards! Why did they make me do this? Carenath's tailfork, my head...

Bristal's skull felt oddly swollen, over-capacious, as if more was going on in there than he was accustomed to feeling. In his drug-enhanced state, he became aware of a sense of inner "growth" or "swelling", as if his mind were stretching out, its substance becoming looser, airier. At first, he put it down to an illusion, a perceptual glitch caused by the drugs.

Then he realized that one of the dragonets - a male, though he couldn't tell how he even knew that - was looking at him. Straight at him.

Oh no.

Bristal's heart dropped into the pit of his stomach as the dragonet began to approach him. He wasn't the biggest of the beasts to Hatch today, but he seemed plenty big and scary to Bristal. Thankfully, this one was moving at a less precipitous pace than the other one had. (He worried his senses might be lying to him about that, but Lethaxo cut in with a curt, "No, they aren't." Absently, Bristal noticed an odd tone in the Fyx's mindvoice. Was he jealous? Of what?)

Bristal's overwrought senses fixed on the dragonet as he approached. A shiver went down Bristal's spine... a weirdly pleasant one. Even though the Holder-bred man genuinely feared for his life, it was impossible not to recognize the beauty of the creature moving toward him. In his altered state, in particular, the dragonet was glorious. Bristal had seen boulder opal before - it was mined in Tiburon Hold, among other rocky places near the coast - and if he didn't know better, he would have sworn this fantastic-looking creature was merely a hallucination, a memory of boulder opal shaped into dragon form by the gilrosen (which often created such hallucinatory creatures to amuse and torment him at turns.)

In fact, was he really certain the dragonet was real? It stopped, standing just a few feet away from him. Bristal's eyes instinctively sought those of the dragonet. Though his heart still pounded in his chest, and a drop of sweat was running down his left temple, Bristal noticed, incongruously, that the dragonet really wasn't all that big. Not up close. Not when you thought about it, really. It was just a baby. Newborn, even. So small, when you thought about how big the adults of its kind were.

Then the dragonet's eyes burst into an amazing whirl of color as perfectly opaline as its irised hide. Bristal -felt- the Impression burst through him, realizing in a vague, stupefied way that the feeling of his mind stretching out had been real after all. It was the dragonet reaching out to him, preparing to take him. But this didn't feel like what Bristal had expected, the identity-wipe that the Holders sometimes whispered darkly about. He wasn't being possessed, taken over, rewritten into a new person.

Or, well, he was. That last thing was happening. Oh boy, it was happening. But it wasn't like what he'd thought it would be at all. It was like going from being a ghost, half-alive, to being whole. The other half of himself that he'd never known was missing had found him. It felt so good. So damn good. Better than any drug possible.

Surrender was the only imaginable option. Resistance was not merely futile, it was inconceivable.

As the dragonet's essence flowed through Bristal into his bondnet, it encountered first Poke, who appeared from between a second or two later, humming his welcome to the dragonet as he hovered closely over Bristal's shoulder. The young man was too stunned by the Impression's force, augmented by being high as a kite already, to send the flitter away. Moments later, the wyverns appeared on Poke's tail, swirling around dragonet and man in an excited whirl of iridescent, metallic, and pearly feathers, their rough, trilling hums underscoring Poke's more typical fire-lizard voice. The fire-lizard and wyverns welcomed their new companion easily, happy for the success of their friend and the strengthening of their "flock".

The Fyx and the dragonet, though, paused at each others' boundaries, searching, feeling, exploring each other with the wary respect of two contestants watching for a mistake in the other's technique. Although it took less than a second for the two to feel each other out and come to a wordless sort of agreement, Bristal felt the pause anxiously, fearful that something was about to go wrong. Time dilated in the intensity of the moment and the rush of his altered perceptions.

Then Lethaxo accepted the dragonet, allowing himself to be pulled into the collective bondnet now anchored and dominated by the dragonet's presence. Magically, psychologically, in every way, things fell into place.

And he and the dragonet were one. Just like that.

I don't think I'm an illusion either, Bristal. It would be strange, as I'm sure that I exist. For a moment, the hatchling paused, but just to step closer so he was standing right by Bristal. I'm Eungeselth.

"Hi," Bristal said stupidly. "I'm Bristal."

I know, the dragonet replied with a patient calm for which the man was grateful.

Br'stal, Lethaxo cut in, rough irritation in his voice. Your name is Br'stal now, remember? Do I have to walk you through EVERYTHING? This is a fine situation you've put us into. Sure, eventually, that oversized fire-lizard will take care of you for me. But for the next two Turns I have twice as much work guarding -both- of you. You've got to learn some responsibility now, man-thing, the black Fyx griped. I can't babysit you forever.

Bristal - Br'stal? Did he really have to change his name now? Sheesh. - could sense the affection underlying the Fyx's faux-grouchy tone, but also a thread of real annoyance. Lethaxo was probably still feeling a little jealous of Eugeselth, the adept realized. Oh, boy. Managing this was going to be fun.

Still, he knew the Fyx was right. It was time to grow up. Maybe. At least a little tiny bit.

But not TOO much, Eungeselth said.

Such as the fact that I'm not planning on changing my name? Also, I'm sorry about... you know. Suddenly, Bristal felt kind of guilty. He ought to be in a Weyr, changing his name, being a weyrling. Now... what was he? What were they? They belonged to the Hales now, for sure. Where else could they even turn? With his gilrosen habit and troublesome past, the Weyrs were out, even if he could get away from the Family safely. No Weyr would take a misfit like him. He knew there were dragons who lived outside the Weyrs, but most of them had grown up within the Weyrs like usual before striking out on their own. He and the other Family Impressees were going to be - he grimaced at the pun when it crossed his mind - winging it.

What had he gotten Eungeselth into?

Something interesting, and fun! Don't worry. You are mine, just as you are, and we will figure things out together, the Knight reassured his rider.

Not without my help, no doubt, Lethaxo grumbled, faux-resentful.

Somehow, despite his apprehension about the future, everything in Bristal's world was exactly as it should be. It was a strange feeling. But not a bad one. Not at all.

Outside, where of-course none could see unless they'd happened to follow the hatchling who'd gone running from the Sands. That exact hatchling was making his way towards the part of the river that was closest to the Hold. Which fortunately wasn't too far from Frog River itself. Even if he certainly had sore feet by the time he got there, from stepping over rocks and the like.

Soon though, he found what..or who he was looking for. Bursting through some bushes, and nearly flattened a person as he threw himself on top of that one. While just a few meters away, a couple others, who had definitely been about to fire the crossbows they had. Just sort of stood there, looking in surprise at what had just jumped at their target.

At least they'd the sense NOT to fire, at least not yet. Even so, if they had been that careless, they probably wouldn't have had time before a black and white striped horse ran into them. With the rather ouch-y natural results of that.

Feeling much more at ease, the knight dragonet made it clear that the person who'd been about to die was HIS. So no shooting, no shooting at all!

--

Back at the Sands. Feeling rather unimpressed by all this, the soldier hatchling with the very colorful wings, went and marched up to Tekkith. Peering up at the queen dragon as she said something that was rather clearly some sort of demand. Because there was definitely that sort of air to her.

There was so few to choose from here, she'd rather see the rest of the Hold and people there, right now, please!

Eyes blue and green, Tekkith lowered her head to look at the hatchling, then nudged her gently. So maybe she could call in a few more, but couldn't the hatchling have another look? With so many here, there had to be someone...

Sitting back on her haunches, the soldier hatchling was clearly about to make it clear that she certainly didn't agree, and... Then she tilted her head, as if listening to something, or maybe someone...?

Definitely seeming happier all of a sudden, the hatchling sprang forwards...and just vanished. There was no keen that came with her disappearance. But, she was definitely gone.

Throwing her head back, Tekkith snorted in surprise. Clearly uncertain about what had just happened, the large queen backed away slightly. Looking around the Sands, before moving closer to her rider, telling any available Hold resident to look for the hatchling. Candidates and those who'd come to watch of-course excluded, they were needed here until every hatchling remaining had found someone.

---

Not looking to be the least bothered by that one of her siblings had run off, and the other had just disappeared. The hatchling with black, purple and gold hide finally made her move. Near sauntering over to someone among the candidates, nudging others out of her way as she moved.

So, my name is Lenverrefth. Let's get me some food, then we can see what we want to do, hmm?

Talent/Skill information: Wherever Mearaarerth is for longer than a few minutes at a time, bugs are going to start to gather. Fortunately, his talent also include that he can control them, and send them away as needed.

Appearance: Large for his caste at a full 40 ft length when fully grown, he is a big boy even as a hatchling. In every sense of the word--this Knight is muscular, broad through the shoulders and chest, and with limbs like tree trunks. He is solid, the kind of dragon you would be hard pressed to make move when he doesn’t want to move. Unfortunately, he doesn’t seem to realize this and holds himself much smaller than he actually is, sometimes clumsy. His wings are on the smaller side compared to the rest of him. His hide is a vivid blend of greens, golds, and crimson, that have been streaked together as if by an artist with a careless brush all along his hide. Over this blend is a spattering of teal freckles, which concentrate around his face and become sparser the closer to his tail one gets. His feet are dipped in the same bright blue, while his wings are a solid yellow. (Written by Caro)

Personality: Very empathic, can't really manage NOT to help when seeing someone in danger or other trouble. Has a horribly soft heart for young people and such, would totally let them use him as a playground. Is not a fan of fighting though, taking risks that may lead to physical injury is terrible. So prefers to swoop in, and get away with the person in danger as quickly as he can, and not being stuck in the danger zone. Has a habit of humming to himself, or even try to dance. Friendly and tends to be upbeat. Noticing the nice things in life. On the other side he can be a bit mentally sad or uncertain in a way, knowing that his rider probably wasn't a good match for him. But he had to do what he had to do.

Notes; Impresses a person who was in really big trouble with some people. Trouble of the 'you're going to die now' type. 'So, I saved your LIFE. Isn't that great?' 8D

Name: Lenverrefth.
Species: dragon
Caste: soldier
Rank: weyrling
Fertility: no
Hex Code:
Talented? Y/N no
Skill? Y/N
Talent/Skill information:

Appearance: At first glance she seems like a dainty figure of a Soldier, only reaching 22 ft in length when fully grown. This is not entirely misleading, since she will never be large and she is overall lightly built, but on closer inspection there is something just slightly off about her proportions, hindlegs just a touch short in comparison to her forelegs and tail not quite in balance with her neck. Her eyes are a touch too big compared to her short, flatter nose, while her wings are long and broad. Although she is quick and slight of build, a wiry strength with corded muscles, she looks clumsy. Her hide is in complete contrast to all of this, with a mottled grey-black base spattered deep purple, then blossoming into amaranth and indigo in patches on her hind legs, forepaw, and wingspar. Gold specks gleam along these bursts of colour and her tailfork, while bright imperial purple streaks lengthwise from her haunches. (By Caro)

Personality: She wants to do her own thing, and have the freedom to do so, and everyone else be damned. That sometimes rigid rank system in a Weyr isn't something she'll just lay down and accept. So it's not somewhere she'll like to stay for life, because she'll probably begin to hate it pretty quickly. When it comes to her rider, though certainly being fond of her person, and knowing that she can't do without them, she's also got no problem with having lengthy arguments with them. Still, it's not something that's so bad that it's likely to lead to hate, though she's not as close with her rider as many dragons tend to be. So may at times completely disregard what they wants, or think the two of them should do. Self-centered, and likes to have nice things, so she's likely to gather quite the collection with time. Especially things that are master-made, and she can get her hands on without being outright accused of theft. Those few she decide are worthy of her friendship though, she'll treat very well. And while still some distance under/less worth than her own(and rider's) selves of-course, they do come in as a good enough second, and she'll do her best to be there for them as long as it doesn't cost her too much. Most of the time, having fun to her, it means destroying something or other, usually with much energy involved. It doesn't need to be a physical object, it can be other things as well.

Of-course, there were going to be no lack of speculation, rumors, and so on, for something as new as just giving part of a clutch of dragon eggs to a Hold. That was just how people were, whether human, dragons, and so on. Some of it dull and unimaginative, or full of suspicion, but a little of it might acctually be interesting. Even if all of it could give insights into various currents going among people.

Hatchings happen many times a year. What makes them worth it, comes with the hatchlings who manage to surprise you, Irimakth said. Flicking her tail just slightly as right then, one dragonet went running out as if something important depended on him. Mildly interesting...

Tell me about those rumors? Can't say if they're really fascinating or not, before I have heard them. Another thing that could be interesting, was what Gethen himself was thinking of all this. Well, he would have to tell her a few things first, then she might give him an update in return. Depending on how much he knew.

--

"I ask for a lot, don't I? Well, sometimes I have to be demanding and selfish," Csianraa said. He stretched slightly, just not with the arm and shoulder Chrysothly was using for a perch. That hatchling who'd gone running out, he didn't pay too much attention to that. Someone had followed it, and Irimakth was of the oppinion that the hatchling knight would be fine. There was someone out there, in a bit of a bad situation, that the hatchling was heading to.

Next though, a hatchling just went and vanished. Something that also caught Irimakth's attention, even as she was talking with Gethen. As far as she could tell, and also told Csianraa, the soldier had gone somewhere. She couldn't be sure of where, that was unclear, but there was very much a feel of magic to this.

"There's a bit of a mystery. Up for trying to find out where that young lady went, later?" Irimakth was certainly in, so the question was more to the firelizard he'd borrowed.

Gethen was most definitely watching the hatching and not the clutch mother. He most definitely did not glance towards Irimakth's red bulk or the small shape on her back that might have been her rider, a nonchalant look every little while as if to make sure they were still there. He might not trust their ability to stay in one place for long but odds were good they would stay at least until the clutch had hatched, and that gave him the luxury to do his job. Mostly.

A few of the hatchlings Impressed to people with apparent normalcy, although one went to a man who had been sitting on the ground, with an expression that was hard to read at this distance. Gethen shifted, letting Netheg-Mu settle more comfortably on his shoulder, as one of the hatchlings went tearing out of the Sands with some destination in mind. Given the lack of reaction from the adult dragons Gethen was not too worried, besides which he had other things on his mind. Oh, you know, he told Irimakth, the usual bits of ridiculousness. Mostly that the Hold gave you some help and you offered up some of the clutch as thanks for their aid. He did not supply the source of the rumour. Must have been important. Or else just another of Irimakth's whims.

And then one of the hatchlings just...disappeared. Gethen braced himself, for the anguished keening that accompanied a dragon's loss, but nothing came. So the hatchling had not vanished Between out of lack of options, or at least not in the sense that she would never reappear--he turned towards Irimakth with a raised eyebrow she probably could not see. What was that all about?

---

Chrysothly made an aggrieved noise at Csianraa and flexed his talons again, prickling against the tunic. He had finished the last crumbs of the meatroll and considered demanding more, but his perch was comfortable and he had a really good view up here, even if it did mean staying in one place which was very boring. After a moment of thought, he sent a flicker of thought-feeling to Irimakth's rider, a sense of maybe they could go play with the hatchlings a bit? Why were they so far away?

Maybe if Csianraa moved, he would not have to do so.

The firelizard was oblivious to the hatchling's disappearance, far more interested in preening, but Csianraa's question distracted him. Chrysothly stopped, tilting his head, and blinked jeweled eyes at him slowly. Then he whistled cheerful agreement. He had no idea what the mystery involved but he was game to do something fun! It sounded exciting! And maybe his human would come along too! Those were always the most fun times.

Still hovering around the person he'd gone over to earlier, the blue officer nudged him lightly with what seemed to be concern. Then he flopped down onto the sand, absolutely not about to be going anywhere.

I'm Cerivanssteth. And even if it's confusing right now, I'm sure that everything will be fine, he said. While understanding that it wasn't easy to not be sure about how one had gotten here, it'd all be fine now, surely. He was Cerivanssteth's person now and all.

---

For the last hatchling, it did take her a while to get her bearings again, after having exited her eggs. Well, she was comfortable there, and she had so much to try to make sense of. As she looked around, her eyes certainly had a fair amount of red and yellow in them. The look on her face seeming disoriented if anything, but at least she didn't seem to be in a panic or anything.

Then...she became a wher, or at least abruptly there was a wherlet with her exact colors sitting where the dragonet had been just a moment before. With a bit of a whine, she scrambled to her feet. Clearly upset, though it was reflected in one of the candidates as well. That person having been a human, but who was quite obviously a theirioi now.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to do that! Her head sinking down, the now wher was definitely now leaning more towards looking as sorry as she'd said she was. It's hard to know what I see is right. And I really didn't know I could do that.

Having said that, she slunk over to the person she'd spoken to, rather speedily for someone slinking. So she'd somehow turned both of them into something else. But that could be fixed, right? And by the way, she was Aviarranneth.

----

With the last her siblings having Impressed, and people starting to look around for her. After a while of looking, it became clear that she wasn't to be found anywhere. Not on the Sands, and not among the spectators. And the people who'd been watching the exits, hadn't seen any dragonet going by there. Though there had been a few people who'd left towards the end of the Hatching.

Had the little scout just vanished like her sister, or had she been stolen or something..?

Talented? Y/N no.
Skill? Y/N
Talent/Skill information:

Appearance: Very, very blue in coloration, is awesomely blue. Is blue epicness. Mildly annoyingly, in his own oppinion, he's small for his caste. Almost tiny even, at only 39 feet. Lithe of build, with long limbs and a long, sleek body. Fairly well propotioned too, though there's some imperfections, sadly. Long, broad wings. His head is very nicely shaped though, with clean and elegant lines, being long, but not too narrow or broad, in his oppinion. His carbuncle is a few sapphire crystals found right in the middle of his forehead.

Personality: Humble and Cerivanssteth isn't really two things that go together. Fortunately, he also has a sense of humor about it, and can be rather helpful at times, which...mostly make him bearable. Even if he and his rider are still pretty damn great, of-course. Has a bit of pride, but isn't unbending. And it's not like he can never, ever ask for help(though he won't do it right away either). He won't like being disrespected or made fun of. But while he can throw hurtful words back, he's not one to get violent and aggressive. He backs away from confrontations, they're beneath him. Very much like to look his best at all times, so not a fan of dust, being on the ground when it's muddy, and so on. Of-course, this means that his rider has to look the part too. So of-course he'll push his person to wear nice clothes, and take care of their appearance too. Will practice and learn things in secret. Whether it has something to do with flying, or gaining new knowledge and understanding. Because when he does something, it has to appear effortless. And when speaking about a subject, it has to be obvious that he knows it well. It's the same with becoming a leader, he really wants to, and in his mind, it's his right of-course. At the same time, he also knows that becoming a good one, it also means having to get practice where everyone can see. Having to risk making mistakes in front of people, it's the worst. But he doesn't want to NOT become a leader either. So it's all just terrible about choices and everything!

Notes; Impresses to a person who has been missing for a long time, probably decades, but appears out of nowhere at the Hatching.

Name: Aviarranneth
Species: Dragon(sometimes wher)
Caste: Soldier
Rank: weyrling
Fertility: no
Hex Code:
Talented? Y/N yes
Skill? Y/N
Talent/Skill information: She has an odd sort of Sight, which allows her to look into one other alternative timeline. Having hatched with little control over this, it's often hard for her to be sure about which when/where she's seeing. But she may get better at this with training. As unusual side-effect of this, she can at times turn herself and her rider into what they are in the other timeline; a wher and a therioi(you can make the rider's original and alternate species any you want though).

Appearance: While she may have started out a nice sort of pale green, with her ridges and the overside of her wings being a thought or two darker. It almost looks like that at some point, someone got their hands on paint that was dark blue, cyan, steel blue and some sort of dark yellow, and had a war with it. So she's also sporting splatters, droplets, and places where it almost look like paint has been running down her hide. Still, the end result looks fairly ok, her coloration is far from the disaster is could have been. Even if she of-course isn't as elegant when it comes to color as some of her siblings. No matter which form she's in, she's rather sinewy of build, all made for speed and endurance. Both arms and legs are slender, ending in strong digits that are armed with very sharp claws. Her wings are broad, and above average of length, ending in rounded points.

Personality: Remains somewhat troubled, she can't help it. Because as she's seeing two different timelines at more or less at the same time, it IS confusing. Like, is she a wher, or is she a dragon? Regretfully, she isn't really sure about her rider/handler either. She's nice, no doubt about it, and has a strong positive streak. While there are things that are horrible, not forgetting that a lot in life also has nice in it, is not something to forget. Often come through as aloof or dreamy, maybe not quite there. Tries to do good, but also has a difficult time growing attached to anyone but her rider/handler. Sort of very fascinated with magic, very much past finding a solution to her troubles, and may spend a lot of time studying it. Will want her person to take her to as many places as possible where she can study. Even if it means that she had to talk with a lot of people.

By the looks of it, the remaining hatchlings were finally getting close to picking someone. Not that she'd give them any sort of blame for that, just picking someone without much thought never brought good things. Irimakth stretched her arms, ready to get up as soon as the Impressions acctually happened.

So this could be part whim, undoubtely about an interest in following what might come out of this in the months and years to come. Who knew how it'd affect this Hold, and the wider group the people there were part of?

Eggs do have worth, that's true. No matter that it's dull giving twelve eggs to people like this, not even with a obvious game about it. I'm sure you'll learn sooner or later, how this came about. Because what was the fun in just outright telling that Csianraa, and his cousin too, had been abducted by bandits in hopes of holding them for ransom?

Not for a moment, did she doubt that Gethen would miss her giving the number of eggs as twelve, instead of the eleven that had been on the Sands.

--

Having gone over to sit closer to where the hatchlings were, possibly keeping up a commentary back and forth with Chrysothly about what happened around them. Though they seemed to be out of luck to play much with the hatchlings, because the last of them went and Impressed not long after.

"Well, might still get a chance to do so after they've eaten?" Standing up, Csianraa glanced over towards where the hatchlings were heading, for the mentioned food and such.

I made no promises about being social here though. So do you want to come along for at least nodding at those people I might have to have a few words with, before we sneak out? Or is the matter of the hatchlings not negotiable? He thought to Chrysothly.
